We believe a wholefood diet doesn't need to take everyone hours in the kitchen.

We're a on a journey as a social enterprise. We're on a mission to help Australians live well, with more vegetables on every plate.

Origin story

We believe that convenience foods can not only taste good, but be a positive inclusion to our day-to-day diets.

There’s no point dancing around it – the mainstream food manufacturing and retail industry is failing us. Their overuse of additives, preservatives and sugar is making us more unhealthy. We started Five Plus Foods to provide one of the positive alternatives to the mainstream. Our passion lies in empowering everyone to live a healthy life, and to live their best life. We wholeheartedly believe that a simple and easy way to make this occur, is if we all eat more veggies (just to validate this point, the ABS states that 95% of us don’t eat enough veg!).

Our founder, Maurice Di Rosso, had a broad career prior to launching Five Plus Foods in 2024. He worked across different nodes of the food and consumer foods value chain, and was also the Director of UK based charity, Feeding Bristol. With a degree in Food Technology and Nutrition, and a Certificate 3 in Cookery, he has channelled his work experience and knowledge into what is now ‘Five Plus Foods’.

My kids more or less subsist on Cheese and Bacon rolls from Bakers Delight and old pieces of toast coated in peanut butter and fluffy detritus from the floor. Not an ideal diet but the little gremlins turn their noses up at anything that’s not beige. So thank goodness for 5 Plus Foods’ Beige Blocks. Now, instead of worrying that my children will contract scurvy or some other medieval disease, I am quietly smug that they start their days with a big bowl of porridge packed with parsnip and celery. Our food philisophy

Two non-negotiables when we first develop a product:

1) It must include vegetables.

2) It needs to taste great!

 

Our objectives for the food we produce include the following:

  • Help everyone eat more than 5 serves of veg a day.
  • Replace sugary foods that would have been eaten, with natural wholefoods.
  • Improve your health by increasing the variety of vegetables in your diet.
  • Help people realise that healthy foods can taste great.

 

Other non-negotiables:

  • We never add sugar.
  • Absolutely no sweeteners, e.g. stevia, sucralose. Even the sweeteners that say they’re ‘natural’ are mostly ultra-processed.
  • No colourings. Again, even the ones that claim to be ‘natural’.
  • No additives or preservatives. This is pretty much a catch-all statement to emphasise that if it’s not a wholefood, then we don’t use it.

Social enterprise

Our mission is to support the health of our communities by making it easy to eat more veg.

We are currently donating our products to one local community organisation (aiming for this to grow), for distribution to those in need. We believe that convenience healthy foods should be available for everyone.

We are also currently building a service model to help educate pre-school aged children about vegetables, and how to cook.

Additionally, during our general day-to-day operations, we focus on:

  • Source from Australian suppliers first
  • Reduce our negative environmental impact through eco-friendly packaging
  • Minimise our food waste
  • Treat our customers and business partners with respect

Our impact so far
